The Essex County Presby Memorial Iris Gardens was established in 1927 to honor Frank H. Presby of Montclair, a leading horticulturalist and a founder of The American Iris Society. This living museum, listed on the State and National Registers of Historic Sites, offers a spectacular display of thousands of iris varieties to visitors from all over the world. Our costs to continue this garden’s existence for the next generation are over $200,000 each year. The Citizens Committee’s partnership with the historic Essex County Parks system benefits our work with publicity and joint efforts sponsoring year-round events. However, the operation of the Presby Iris Gardens is not part of any local, county or state budget.
Please don’t overlook the Citizens Committee as a conservancy worthy of your financial support. Give what you can to ensure that this special landmark endures. Your tax-deductible gift directly supports the operation of this world-famous living botanical museum. Mail your check, call us with your credit card or make your donation online today. Please take a moment to affirm that Presby continues to matter.
