A Remarkable Season

Hosting the 2016 American Iris Society (AIS) Convention, something Presby had not done since 1970, took 3 years of preparation. As the boxes of guest iris came in from near and far, we planned and planted, weathered a polar vortex, and tucked away or doubled up some of our collection to make room for these new and exciting iris cultivars.

On May 26, 2016, convention day, we were thrilled because we were in PEAK although the day was very hot. As the buses unloaded, we noted with pride, the delight on convention visitors faces upon discovering cultivars not seen in decades.

The queen of the garden that day was the iris ‘Barbara Walther’ who rightly reigned over all. We hope we made some new friends who will cherish their memory of the garden for years to come.
